Google Merchant Centre helps millions of people discover, explore, and buy your products. With its family of features and deep reporting tools, it brings you different ways to get the right products to the right customers.

1) Before you begin, you’ll need a Google account (like Gmail) to sign up for the Merchant Centre. The Merchant Centre intelligently builds an onboarding experience tailored to your account.

Following details will be needed for a GMC account set-up:

(i) Enter your business information: The business information needs to be added for a successful account set-up. The information includes metrics such as:

(a) Business Address
(b) Timezone (automatically filled)
(c) Business Name
(d) Valid phone number

(ii) Choose where your customers checkout: Select the checkout options that apply to your business. More than one option can be selected.

(a) On your website - Customers see your product listing on Google and go to your website to buy.

(b) On Google - Customers see your product listing on Google and buy the product without leaving Google.

(c) At your local store - Customers see your product listing on Google and visit your local store to buy.

(iii) Choose your third party platforms: Tell GMC about the third-party platforms being used to show, promote or sell your products across Google.

(iv) Choose your email preferences: Opt in to receive emails about updates, with tips and best practices etc,

2) After a successful account setup, a feed is created to which you can submit your data. This step is required for any new feed, and once a feed is registered, you can update the existing feed without having to register again.

There are 2 options for creating a GMC Feed:

(i) Primary Feed: central data source that the Merchant Centre uses to access and display your product data.
(ii) Supplemental Feed: provides data that supplements product data in one or more primary feeds.

To use a supplemental feed, connect it to an existing primary feed through the ID attribute.

3) Navigate to Extensions > Feeds > GMC Feed and click on the edit icon.

4) After clicking on the edit icon, set the status as Enabled. Set the Rating Feed Status as Enabled as well.

Click on the save icon in the top right corner to save the changes.

The feed manager labels can be exported/imported by using the export and import buttons in the top right corner.
